Weekly Recap: Easter Traditions

Welcome back to what is quickly becoming my favorite blog post, the weekly recap! I hope you all had an amazing Easter weekend. I am coming to you a bit later in the day this Monday because I spent my morning cleaning up the mess Easter left behind 🤦‍♀️. In today's post, I plan to share with you all of our family traditions for Easter. Much of my week prepped for yesterday and it paid off! The kids had an absolute blast, and so did their momma & daddy. At the end of this post, I would love to hear from you! Do you have any Easter traditions you do every year?

Our Traditions

When we first had Sofia, we didn't have any specific traditions we "had" to carry on. Both Carl and I growing up did the egg hunt and got baskets from the Easter bunny, but that was pretty much it for me. Carl's side of the family is huge on get-togethers though, so we knew we would be doing something with them. Over the years, and now have two children, I feel like we have finally found a groove with our Easter traditions. This year we even added in the cutest bunny footprints leading to the baskets. It was ALL Carl's idea and it turned out perfect!

Baskets from the Easter Bunny

The Easter Bunny brings the kids a personalized basket each year. In the past, it has included summer toys (one year the baskets were sand buckets filled with beach accessories), rainboots & umbrellas, and more. This year the bunny had a bug theme for Bubba and a princess/unicorn theme for Sofia.

Both kiddos got a brand new outfit to wear on Easter day, a chocolate bunny and other small candy eggs, a book, and some toys! If you follow me on YouTube or Instagram, you saw the craft I did with the stuffed bunnies. I was so proud of the little name tags I made for them, and the kids nearly fainted when they saw them. They haven't gone a moment without their bunnies since getting them yesterday. 💕

Easter Breakfast

Think over-the-top cheesy decor. We are talking paper plates that say "Happy Easter", eggs hanging from the ceiling, and bunny faces EVERYWHERE. Every year this tradition brings so much light to our children's eyes. Along with the baskets, the Easter Bunny sets up in our dining room for a magical Easter Breakfast.

Carl and I (but mostly Carl because he does 75% of the cooking in our house), made all the breakfast favorites to go with the decor. Eggs, hashbrowns, waffles, sausage, and fruit!

Egg Hunt

Is it Easter without an egg hunt? The kids are spoiled in they get two hunts. The first one we do in our home. We call it the "PJ Hunt". Fresh out of bed the kids find eggs around the house and then get to spend the time it takes Carl and me to cook breakfast opening eggs and playing with their new toys.

The second hunt we do with family, read below to see a picture from it!

Family

As I mentioned before, Carl's family is always up for a big meal and celebration. So after breakfast, we had the kids take a bath & dress up in their new outfits to head out. We live 30-40 minutes from my in-laws so, of course, Bubba Boy fell asleep in the truck 😂. Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the cuteness of his shirt though? The Easter bunny did real good finding this one.

We had a yummy meal, plus the kids got to find more eggs with their cousins. Win-Win.

So what Easter traditions do you have? I would love to hear from you below in the comments or on my Instagram page! I shared a 15-second real there this morning with some of our pictures from Easter if you want to check it out. See you next time!

💕sending love & momma to momma support,

Kaylin
